These Must Be The Good Old Days

Somehow I've always managed to make mountains out of molehills. Whoever said, "Buck up- times are hard for all of us!" surely had me in mind.

You're born, stuff happens and you die.

You might as well enjoy yourself in the meantime and if you can help make anyone or anything else happy in the process, go on, then.

Give us peace on earth and end this dreadful, dreadful war.

What I Was

Nothing prepares you for the end, yet it's all preparation for the end when you get right down to it. When you're gone, how long do you suppose they will remember you? Who cares?

Step lightly and make smiles. Not much matters and, yet, everything does.

You might screw up at some point. Maybe you already have. Don't wring your hands and fret- do something worthwhile. If there's not a little old lady right there ready to cross the street and you're not up to curing cancer or ending war, adopt a pet or call an old friend.

I hope you didn't come here looking for something profound.

Give us peace on earth and end this dreadful, dreadful war.

Some Days Nothing Rhymes

Is it the pinnacle of arrogance or the nadir of self esteem to conclude that you're as bright as they come and that you don't know much?

The small mark that you leave depends on the kindness that you've shared when the results are tallied. I'm sure of that.

Give us peace on earth and end this dreadful, dreadful war.
