Once you're in on the joke, there's no going back. The brain serves as something of a receptor, I suppose, helping make some little sense of everything going on around us. More importantly, it functions as a filter, blocking out more input than we can handle.
As I look around, there seems to be too much filtering and not nearly enough receiving here lately. Somehow I can't help but think that AI is going to exacerbate the situation.
Oh, I'm not hopeless. I would be lying, though, if I told you that I'm optimistic.
