The measure of the difference between a good guy and a bad guy is small by my estimation. Why not push it? Overtip. Apologise right away. Pet every dog and smile at every stranger. Oh, they'll make fun of you. If you're American, think Mr. Rogers.
Now, I know that this is a serious case of "do as I say, not as I do." I've got good intentions, though. I've got bad ones, too, but that's another blog.
